A few years ago, I made this Tetris quilt. I did it super simple with 3" squares for each pixel. Though I am happy with how it came out, I wanted to do a more 3D version like some people (include Toni) have done. I spent the last few weeks sewing a zillion or so pieces and have the bottom section assembled. Each square is 4", so the little bits and pieces making it up are 1"... shoot me. There were something like 2500 pieces in this section. But it is done!
Next is the lettering. I have them cut out. I'm going to fuse and then blanket stitch
Oh, and I have to get it to the quilter on Sunday, so I have 7 days left for blanket stitching and quilt assembly, including 2 sets of borders.

Both Quilts look cool! The 3D one looks like a game screen shot. I can't imagine the patience and time spent cutting 2500 squares let alone sewing them too! Great Job!

I can't imagine the patience and time spent cutting 2500 squares let alone sewing them too! Great Job! It's for my friend's mom who lost her husband in April, then her father-in-law in July, and just found out she has breast cancer I was talking to my friend, asked her if her mom liked any of my quilts (since I had recently finished about a dozen that don't have homes) and she said her mom likes the "shit happens" one because of ... everything, so, yes, that did help motivate me to get through the 2500 squares, especially so quickly.

I have the quilt finished and in the mail! It took me about 4 weeks of working on this with every spare moment (even taking a sick day from work). I love how it came out!

It looks really great. Been following it on the blog and I may have to steal your pattern some day (but not anytime soon).

Oh that is GREAT! I am planning on making a Tetris quilt for Magfest and may do it this way. Dang it, do I do my traditional way or take the chance with swearing and families. Ugh.

My stupid roommate looked at it and stupidly said he had a stupid problem with it and I asked him what and he said that his problem is that there are two 1x4 blocks in the top row and I think that he's stupidly right. So now I need to redo it and either not have any of the 1x4 after about (bottom) row 5, or it would be kinda funny to just not have them at all in the main grid. I'm not sure what I want to do for Shit is Really Still Happening, but now it's all I see (I killed him shortly after... we agreed it was fair).

I struggled with the swearing. When I posted the original on Sprite Stitch I added the spoiler tag and a language warning. Though a few months ago, I read something the author of I F*cking Love Science wrote - she said parents would complain about her site name and she said if that's the worst thing your kids are looking at on the internet, you're doing a good job. And it's different about having it at a Con (maybe with a sticker pinned over it but removable) but I feel like most people would appreciate it.

Oooooo, A sticker over it is a FANTASTIC idea! If I decide to do it, I will redo the pattern to make sure the Tetris pieces are accurate and pass it back on to you.
