Back in 2011, Kaufman fabrics released a line of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I LOVE the Grinch, I own the behind-the-scenes DVD, I have multiple ornaments on my tree, have plushies, etc, so I HAD to buy the fabric. I bought the fabric to make the quilt that Kaufman provided the free pattern to. Then I found a pattern in a magazine I HAD to make - buy more fabric. Ooh, and here's another one - more fabric. I bought enough fabric for 3 quilts. Fast forward 3 years, I (of course) haven't made a dang thing with the fabric. And now that I'm working through old projects before starting new ones, I pulled the fabric out last night, I found the patterns (miracle)... And I realized I have no desire to make any of the 3 quilts any more. I thought about designing my own quilts or doing something with the fabric but I realized I don't want to do anything with it. I ended up listing it all on etsy last night and hoping someone will buy it and make it go away. But I'm just shaking my head all night and into today that I HAD to have this fabric, schlepped it around for 3 years, and don't want it. I have 4 lines of Wizard of Oz fabric (for 4 quilts) that once I find it all, will have the same etsy fate. Same thing, HAD to have, don't actually want. *sigh* My name is Carolyn and I collect/hoard fabric with no intention to actually use it. Attachments:

Have I showed you the picture of my quilt room yet? I am a fabric hoarder. I am surprised I don't have more than what I do.

Ok, Ok. It is a MESS because I have to reorganize it again. I just did it 2 months ago but I have even more crap. When I get back home next week I will take a panoramic picture of it. I warn you. I have people "shop" at my house.

That's awesome, I'm excited!
Made me think of one of my favorite internet memes: when I look at my house and think it's messy, I just turn on Hoarders. Then I'm like "sh*t, I'm a neat freak"

Maybe we should have a "help me" thread! Or maybe this is just it. My craft room is so full right now that there isn't even a foot path on the floor. And that's just my paper crafting room. My wool, cross-stitch stuff, fabric and other general crafting supplies are in the guest room and main bedroom. I've taken over the house!!!

I think you need to buy a bigger house - problem solved!
When I moved to Seattle, it was insane how much stuff I had. I had over 30 finished quilt tops, another 30+ in progress, and enough material to go to the moon (that might be an exaggeration... maybe). 2014 has been my "Complete all of your quilt tops!" year. A few years ago, I was in a group on a chat board where the goal was for everyone to complete one UFO per month. I didn't succeed for any of the years I played... but I did this year!

Luckily I have deadlines with commissions so I have to finish those. Quilts for my pleasure? Yeah, haven't done one of those in years. I do have some half finished ones laying around though. So I warned you. It is a disaster zone. Yes, I have 4 bookcases full of fabric as well as fabric everywhere. I only have 3 machines you can see but I actually have 5. That large box in the back left by the ironing board is another organizer for over the door. The bright space on the right is my cutting area. It is bright from the awesome Ottlite.

Geez Louise, Toni!! My area's looking pretty good right now! We should do a tour of local Craft Hackers to look and laugh at their spaces!

Hahah, that's awesome. Toni, I love your space!! I want to go shopping there! When I clicked on the picture, PhotoBucket had "buy these as prints". My favorite is to use that picture as a Christmas card, lol. When I get home tonight or tomorrow, I'll send you a picture of my space. And then find pictures from my house in Tucson. That was a quilting house. This is much more in control Attachments:

OMG. It looks even worse as a Christmas card! When I said people go shopping at my house I wasn't joking. I just see fabrics and think "but what if they stop making it" and just buy the whole bolt.

I just see fabrics and think "but what if they stop making it" and just buy the whole bolt. To be fair, that does make sense. I tried to explain that to various guys I was dating that they make the fabric then they're done and it's impossible to find. So if you like something, you need to get it. Though I don't usually buy a bolt, ha.
