Not quite chain mail, but not too far removed from it either! I got this pattern from the lovely Crafty Mutt, and love my wristwarmers! Nice and warm to wear, with a nice little 'jangle' when you wiggle your hands.

Looks like the scales are woven into a yarn glove thingy...I have very little knowledge of the yarn arts...so I couldn't even begin to deconstruct that...but it looks pretty cool.

There's a great picture (and video) tutorial on craftymutt.blogspot.co.uk/p/learn-to-knit-with-scales.html It means that there's a lovely soft yarn between your skin and the scales. Pretty simple to do, if a little time consuming.
