I am signed up for a block of the month program. It's called Vice Versa. It features a block done in the more traditional way then flips it so the background and color are reversed. Here are the first 5 months. We get 4 more months of blocks, then put the quilt together. Attachments:

That's fun! It's a good way to give people ideas on how things can look if they just mix it up a bit!

I love blocks of the month!! I really wish I had time to do some more traditional quilting, especially block of the month quilts. Maybe one day I can stay home all day and quilt again.

Since you do so little quilting now? But, yes, I know what you mean. It's tough when your hobby is also work. This site does a BOM every year. Maybe in January you could join? We could encourage each other, and anyone else who wants to join. I like when it's just a block or two since it's easier to fit in with the rest of life's craziness. And I like when getting the next month's block isn't dependent on completing the prior month's (some of the local programs were $x if you had the block done for next month's and $2x+ if you didn't).

I love that idea, but still don't know if I would be able to. All of my quilting now is for commissions and for conventions. I don't even have time to make gifts anymore. If I didn't have a day job anymore I could again, but I did something stupid and went back to school for my MBA so I am stuck for quite a few years.

I have this fantastic Halloween themed block of the month that I got from FabShopHop a few years ago and have been dying to make it. I know my mother would be in if we started a "block of the month" sew along with this pattern. If we could get one or two more people at least and if you like the pattern then I would make time to do it. Interested? drive.google.com/file/d/0By5SKPk0ocO4QnBFZzIyYXJ4RUU/edit?usp=sharing

I can't commit to starting anything new until at least July 1 (though later is good too). If we do it spaced out over a year, then it'll be ready(ish) for Halloween 2015. I'll ask my friend who is big on Halloween and see if he's interested. So let me give you a tentative commitment and we'll talk in a few weeks and I'll give you a definite answer? Anyone else on the forum want to join?? (This would be a fun forum activity)

That would be fun! There are 11 different blocks (with 2 that repeat) and then the assembly and borders. So I was thinking if we start September 2014 and do a block a month and then the assembly and borders one month, and then pinning, quilting, binding one month it will be finished October 2015. That gives us a few months to get a couple more people and I can release the materials list in August. I can then post 1 pattern a month starting with the center block that comes with the overall one I linked! Now I am excited.

I even have someone who wants the quilt

Yay! Ok, with 3 people confirmed let's do it. Ask anyone you know that quilts if they would like to join. I will post the list of materials in August and put a blog on the main page. This will be fun!

I think I might do parts of as well. Probably won't do the full Halloween, but probably will do some of the blocks as they look good!

I talked to my mom today and she is a definite possibility too. I am so excited! Going to go post on Sprite Stitch now to see if any other quilters that haven't started here want to join in.
I will also make a blog post sometime in July and then when I post the materials and each of the patterns.
