I've been quilting for almost 10 years now and I love making quilt tops but have trouble finishing them... when I moved to Seattle last year, I had 3 dozen finished tops, and that's not including the 18 or so that I gave away... yeah, I have a problem. Anyway, this year, I gave myself a Lent-inspired challenge - 40 days to get through all of my finished quilt tops ("getting through" meaning having the backs complete, tops squared up, and have it scheduled with a quilter). I started the challenge mid-April with 36 tops. A few nights ago, I decided to give 9 tops away. Here are 8 of them. They're going to a women and children's shelter.

2 more... The seasons one is pretty cool - the bunny ears are loose on one side, the kites have tails, there's rick rack by the boats - fun embellishments Attachments:

They are so beautiful!!
I love what you did with the Wizard of OZ panels. I tend to get stuck with just framing them. I love to see different ways to do them.

What is the name of the pattern for the last quilt you posted? That is cool.

I love the rainbow one! They are all really lovely, though.

What is the name of the pattern for the last quilt you posted? That is cool. That is Karen Combs / Blank Quilting fabric line. Each fabric has 4 shades, so there are only 5 fabrics that I used in that. I can't find the pattern nor the fabric line name. It was around 2008/2009. It's made with 2.5" strips, and it's basically a log cabin block. You make 4, then stick them together to get a full big block.

Ahhh, that makes sense. I absolutely love the pattern and the color choices you made on it. I haven't made a traditional quilt in almost 2 years. My choices for the fabric sucked for the most part so I can't wait to make another one to see if they are better after doing so many geeky quilts and commissions.

It's always nice to see how much better you are at something after years of practice. I've been looking at some of my early quilts and I will think (nicely) "awww, how cute, past me thought that was good". I still love and appreciate the early quilts, but from a technical standpoint, I can do muuuuuch better now, so it's nice to see how far I've come. And you do great with fabric choices so I imagine even a traditional one would turn out well now

Thanks!! I know what you mean. I look back at some of my uneven quilted stitches and remember how proud I was that it looked like that. That is the mark of a great crafter, someone that is always looking to improve.
