My friends were supposed to get married next March. Last week, they moved the wedding to this October (they decided to do a small ceremony in CA, instead of AZ, and just wanted to get going with their lives together. Last week, I had just started to design their quilt so I could leisurely work on it for 9 months ... so now I have 3 months, start to finish, to get this done. So please join me on my journey The quilt is going to be about 108" x 130"... made mostly out of 1.5" (1" finished) strips. The pattern is a Lover's Knot block. It was inspired by this quilt: Here's my mockup. For the 12 big blocks, for the blue sections, there will be 3 different colors. Then the borders will be those 3 colors (and will go on all 4 sides). If it doesn't kill me, it will be gorgeous. I'll probably write up a pattern and sell it (I have a few patterns that I sell) The fabric will be here next week. The blue fabric will represent the purple in the sketch above (e.g. most prominent). The green, gold, and red will be the blue inner loop. And the white is the background. The black is the backing. *fingers crossed* that the fabric will look nice in person. I'll post more pictures when the fabric gets here and as I work on it. For the scope of this project and the tight deadline, I think having this thread will help keep me encouraged. I need to have the top done by Sept 13 at the absolute latest to get it to the quilter on time.

Not much of an update, but the fabric arrived yesterday! I won't have time until Sunday to even consider starting on this, but at least I have the fabric Attachments:

Yay! New fabric is almost its own reward as you get to sit and stroke it and add it to the stash for however small a time. Or is that just me?

Well, this doesn't much count as an update, but I've decided to wait on this until end of this year/early next year I have some Christmas gifts to finish and am moving next week and I'm trying not to overwhelm myself. So expect more updates in a few months. Grrrr

I have been told that as long as they get it within the first year it still counts as a wedding gift, so don't sweat it. Making sure you're not overwhelmed seems like a much better plan with all you've got going on.

I've heard the one year rule which is usually what I try to stick with. Though I read somewhere recently a thing on wedding etiquette and it said no, it has to be the day of or it doesn't count. But f that.

Of course you could always have friends like Nicole that make you break the one year rule. I told her she could have any double sized quilt she wants for her wedding last year. She and her husband still can't decide what they want and it is almost a year. /sigh.

Hahahahahaha. I would point this out to her, but Nicole has a bad habit of not reading the forums. Maybe that means she will automatically forfeit the quilt to you?
