This would have been my entry for the May/June contest. It isn't for my mother, but it is for a new mother. Yes, that is the right term for this baby. (It's a long story.) I'm actually really happy with it. Fairly confident that its my favorite baby quilt that I've ever made.

Oh that is fantastic! At first I thought you used a gradient fabric (which I love I just can't figure out what to use them on), but then looked closer and realized it is all pieced! That is such a good fabric and color choice where it looks like a seamless transition from one to the other. Great job and it is again fantastic.

That's gorgeous. Did you do the quilting yourself. How big is it? I wants it

Thanks all! Yes, you're right Toni, its all pieced. I too have difficulties trying to figure out how to work with gradient fabric, and rather than bother this is just a 10 inch charm pack of pastel Tonga Treats from Timeless Treasures that I bought specifically for baby quilts. The Irish have this weird annoying habit of never telling anyone whether its a boy or a girl and I got sick of just making yellow/green blankets and wanted something with more color. This is the third baby blanket I've gotten out of this charm pack, and I can probably get at least one more, so I'm pretty happy. That will leave me one blanket short though for this year... Oh well, guess I have to go shopping again!
Yes, I did the quilting myself. Its nothing fancy and definitely not perfect, and I probably should have actually done things like make real lines on it instead of just basing each line off the one before, but that is just way too much hassle imo! It's about 4'x 3' I think? It isn't made to be a certain size, I just started with the pattern in the centre and worked out until it felt like it was big enough for a crib. I always err on the bigger size for these. It would, though, actually make a fantastic lap quilt and if the baby hadn't been born this past weekend I might be keeping it for myself for that!
Actually, doing this has made me really want a new lap quilt, and I have a UFO that might fit the Summertime challenge, so I might just have to finish that off.
