It is November first and time to kick off a new Quilt a Long. The team at Craft Hackers wanted to do something a little different so we created our own pattern this time! We are very excited to unveil the NES Sampler Quilt! The NES Sampler quilt will have a finished size of 51" by 67". For those not familiar with a Quilt a Long we will be releasing the pattern for one block each month on the 1st. You then have the entire month to make the block. Don't feel rushed though. The patterns will always be free and available in the forums so you can join and catch up at any time. You can pick and choose which blocks to make and in what order you would like to arrange them on the quilt. You just don't get the instructions for the next block in the series until the following month. This quilt can be made by experienced quilters, or those new to quilting. You only need to know how to use a sewing machine and a rotary cutter. New quilting tips will be highlighted so experienced quilters can skip over them. This month we are giving you the fabrics you will need and how much of each fabric to get. You can find the instructions here! Please let us know if there is anything in the patterns that are confusing or need to be explained further. If the the NES quilt is successful then we plan on releasing our own line of patterns for you! Happy Quilting!

Good morning Toni! I am in! I'm excited to buy fabric for this *purposefully ignores the giant boxes of stash fabric*
I really like how you did the fabric requirements. It's really clear which blocks they'll be used in and what colors and all that.

Yay! I am so happy both of you are in! When I made the post on the Sprite Stitch forums this morning and saw you were pregnant I wondered if you still wanted to participate. If you want to do one for the baby and not you, then just do 6 blocks and half of the fabric for the sashing.
I am very happy also that you like the layout. Nicole and I tried to make all of the patterns as easy to read and follow for new quilters as possible. We also didn't want to bore the experienced quilters. If there are any questions on the fabrics or blocks, let me know!

Oh, Toni, I think my buddy Randy is also going to join. The other day he texted me and said he wants to do a quilt and wants it to be something nerdy, so I linked him to your initial Sprite Stitch post, and I think he's in.

Yay!! That is awesome. I want as many experienced and brand new quilters as possible. You guys are my test market. If you can read and understand my directions then Nicole and I can go full steam with making a full line of patterns! If you can't, then we need to figure out how you can.

Randy will be good for helping to test that. He's done 3 (...?) quilts, so definitely in the newer quilter realm. I'm really excited for this. Though trying not to think about it too much since it's a month away from the first block

Well, I do have to put the post up here before putting up the blog post. So I may put it up a few days early for those anxious to get started. Maybe before American Thanksgiving for those of you that have some time over the holiday. Oh and one of the rewards I am thinking of for my indiegogo is unlocking of all the patterns (just for the person that pledges). Is this something that I should include?

Maybe before American Thanksgiving for those of you that have some time over the holiday. Oh and one of the rewards I am thinking of for my indiegogo is unlocking of all the patterns (just for the person that pledges). Is this something that I should include? Thanksgiving: Oh, yeah, that would actually be really nice. I'm staying at my home and not seeing my family, so it gives me 3 glorious days to sew (+1 day of American Football). If that's not a problem for you, I would really appreciate a few extra days. Indiegogo: Oohh, I like that. That would be really tempting... And/or maybe a bonus pattern? Oh... what about a quilt label? When I did (*cough* read through the instructions, made 1 block, and never finished) the Harry Potter Project of Doom, she had one extra block for the back, which was a label block. "Signature block" at the bottom: www.fandominstitches.com/2015/07/harry-potter-bookcase-quilt-along.html In general that might be cool to have a signature block, and you could offer it early to Indigogo people, or if one person pledges enough, let them pick what the block will be (if it were me, I would probably do a 1 UP mushroom, something like that).

Oh that is a GREAT idea Lexxi!! I just had my quiltoni quilt labels changed over to a lady that prints them on iron on cotton fabric. I could definitely have some made up I could send to people that pay to unlock all the blocks. So even people that are patient have an incentive. I don't know if I could throw in a bonus pattern. All my time now is working on the quilt a long pattern. I have all the directions written down, but have to make each block to double check my work. It is definitely something to think about and I may try to make it work though.

Yeah, right, things take time, heh. I always forget and want to do more things.
