What could be a good way to do a completely crocheted bento box? I'm mostly stuck on the rice part since the rest of the food is going to be trial and error. I don't want to do a flat row of white yarn or a block of white yarn for rice and be done since that's boring. And I don't want to use fun fur because 1) ugh..fun fur and 2) that would be really scary looking rice! Any ideas?

Have you thought about making a base that's just a simple SC piece for the length and then latch hook style attaching the yarn onto it before trimming it down? It won't be quite the same effect but it might give you the texture you're looking for. If you don't mind a bit of mixed media you could also try sewing the white yarn densely onto a bit of plastic canvas. It would give it a more uniformed look, but that could be more pleasing then the wild texture generated by latch hook. Not to mention the length of your stitches would more closely resemble rice. Possibly worth experimenting with both methods to see what looks better.

Thank Nicole! Those are great ideas! I'll give them a try and see how things go.
