I hope it's ok with Toni - I wanted to offer my assistance to anyone who needs some help with a cross stitch or embroidery project. So, anybody needing help with anything stitching or sewing related, please post in here! Maybe you're a stitcher with a thread problem, or an embroiderer looking for help with a design. Feel free to ask anything, no matter how ridiculous it sounds I will try to answer it to the best of my ability! When posting for help: - Describe your problem in detail
- Add a photo if you can
- Don't be afraid to ask even the most basic questions!

It is definitely ok with me! Considering Blackmageheart is a moderator on Sprite Stitch she is definitely the right woman to get advice from!

Hello! I know this thread is older but I thought it might be an appropriate place to ask about cross-stitch patterns.
Sadly I am not a stitcher and I am completely ignorant about any process involving a needle of any kind though the work people do with embroidery and cross stitching astounds me. I make pixel art and I've been interested in providing cross stitch patterns for people. Problem is-- I have no idea how to convert my pixel drawings into said patterns. I've looked online for help on this and even found programs that apparently turn photos into patterns. However, I wanted to get insight from people who are knowledgeable on the craft and what you think makes a good quality pattern if you were to purchase one digitally. I'd like to learn a little about the process so I can in turn understand the best way to create patterns.
Thanks!

This is a great question! I definitely suggest KG Chart, it is a free program, but the color choices suck. Remind me this weekend and I will show you how to use it and fix those dang color choices.
Everyone else feel free to offer more suggestions!

I prefer PC Stitch/Mac Stitch, but it's not free. If you want to try it out first without the cost, then you can see if you like KG.

Since I have it and definitely didn't buy it. I love KG Chart. Though it's crashed on me once or twice (in 5+ years) so, as with everything, make sure to save.

I believe you can get a trial version of PC Stitch but you're not allowed to save or print any patterns. Something like that. And some of the other functions are limited.
