Does anybody else sit down in front of a project and get completely ready then glance at something and suddenly you're watching 30 episodes of Supernatural and playing around on the floor with your dog and then suddenly it's 3 a.m. and you realize you went to bed and wasted a whole day of art or is that just me? Because I can't seem to stay focused at all ever and I feel like I'm too busy but I'm really not, I just get to distracted. I don't know how to fix it either so suggestions are greatly appreciated....
Gah!

Normally I have issues concentrating when I'm suppose to be cleaning or something important like that. I can stitch for hours and only stop for a bit. I think it's because I can watch TV while I'm stitching, so I don't have to be fully concentrated on it.

Oh I do this all the time. Its why there is still a bag of sewing next to my couch at the end of this weekend.
Tbh, I think its less distraction and more willpower/fear of failing in my case. I'm excited by the project, but I opt for the easy options mostly.

Happens all the time. I will sit with my stitching in my lap for 2 hours while I watch the movie that I wasn't supposed to pay attention to while I was stitching. For me, it doesn't really depend too much on the project. The more stressed out I get about needing to finish a bunch of things or just one thing with an approaching deadline, the more I will end up procrastinating because I just can't focus on the one thing. It gets overwhelming very easily.
This is something that I'll be working on. Toni suggested to me recently that I set a schedule. A certain number of hours per week that I spend working on this stuff. Also schedule in some fun time. Just set small goals and you'll see that they quickly add up!
Sometimes all I have to do is take a deep breath and just pick up my cross-stitch or knitting. Once it's in my hands, as opposed to in my lap, I'm more likely to continue to work on it for however long.

Time management is actually one of the topics that I help Craft Hacker members with.
